What you will study

Long Island Conservatory of Music’s Conservatory Diploma Program is designed to give aspiring musicians a solid musical foundation and to develop skilled performers in their choice field of study. This program is available for students wishing to study keyboard, orchestral instruments, and voice. The diploma represents recognition of accomplishment in the field of music. This program adds more time to the intense studio training and comprehensive instruction in stage performance. The program focuses on three areas of concentration: major field of study, coursework in music-related subjects and ensemble performance.

Audition Repertoire

AUDITION INFO
*A completed application form needs to be submitted at least one week before the actual audition takes place.
*LICM auditions are only held in our Long Island Campus. Applicants residing outside of the U.S.A. may send a DVD or YouTube for their audition.

Piano / Jazz Piano One EtudeOne Baroque style piece and one movement of Classical Sonata plus a Romantic composition
Voice (Classical) One Italian song from 17 th ~ 18 th CenturyOne English song (aria accepted)

One German or French song

Voice (Musical / Jazz ) Two musical selections in contrasting style
String One capriceTwo contrasting movements from an unaccompanied sonatas & partitas by J.S.Bach.

One fast movement from any concerto in the standard repertoire.

Woodwind / Brass(Classic / Jazz) Two contrasting etudes or pieces that shows the applicant’s level of technical and musical achievement
Composition Submit samples of original compositions for piano, voice and piano, or small instrumental or vocal combinations. Performance tapes, if available, should be included.
Percussion (Classic / Jazz) One piece of each category (Snare Drum, Marimba-Timpani) in  the Conservatory Diploma Program level.
Conducting One selection of Contestant’s choice on your instrument of study. Theory placement exam by LICM.
Applicant must prepare the following selections to be conducted during the live performance.

  1. Mozart, Piano Quartet in G minor
  2. Vivaldi, Spring 1 st movement
  3. Mozart, Sull’aria
