Long Island Conservatory & Nyack College Program

Long Island Conservatory, in collaboration with Nyack College, is pleased to now offer bachelor degrees in music. This program officially began in Fall 2020. Through Nyack College, students can now obtain any of the following degrees:

 

-Associate of Science in Music

-Bachelor of Arts in Music, with optional concentrations in Broadway Performance, Jazz Performance, and Collaborative Piano

-Bachelor of Music in Composition

-Bachelor of Music in Music Education 

-Bachelor of Music in Gospel Music Performance

-Bachelor of Music in Performance in Voice, Keyboard Instruments, Orchestral or Fretted Instruments

-Bachelor of Science in Music in Worship

Students enrolling in this joint program through LIC will be able to take lessons and receive instruction through our faculty, while also taking advantage of the courses offered at Nyack College. Requirements:

-For students wishing to enroll in the joint college program, please submit the required materials for Nyack College to the Long Island Conservatory. All of the required materials are available at https://www.nyack.edu/site/how-to-apply

 

- The required paperwork needed are as follows:

  •  Application (with $25.00 non-refundable fee)

  • Official transcripts (high school or college if transferring)

  • Official test scores (SAT or ACT)

  • Transfer recommendation (if transferring)

  • Immunization records (following New York State guidelines)

  • Religious documents (pastor reference, etc) are optional if you are applying through the LIC program

International students:

 

- If English is not your primary language, you must have a certificate of English Proficiency. TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, and DET are all acceptable. Minimum scores required for each: TOEFL paper -523; TOEFL internet - 70; IELTS - 6.0; PTE - 50; DET - 95

- Note: LICM will waive the language requirements if 1) you have spent 2 years in a college/university institution based in an English-speaking country. 2) 3 years in an overseas institution where English is the primary language of instruction. 3) Achieved a level II proficiency or higher through our LISMA ESL language program.   

 

  • International transcripts must be submitted to World Education Services (WES) or Globe Language Services. Please request a course-by-course evaluation for college transcripts

  • Please contact us if you need an F-1 / I-20 visa. Due to COVID, current travel restrictions apply. We will keep this information updated when things change. 

Cost & Fees: For students that are accepted, we offer scholarships for exceptional students to assist with the tuition of the college program. These scholarships are provided on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for more information regarding this assistance at info@licm.edu

Audition Requirements:

  • Piano: one etude, one baroque piece, one movement of a classical or romantic piece

  • Voice (classical): one Italian song (17th-18th century), one English song, and one German or French song (arias are acceptable)

  • Voice (musical/jazz): two contrasting songs

  • Strings: one standard etude, one movement from a Bach sonata or partita, and one movement of a concerto

  • Brass/Winds: one standard etude, and one piece of your choice

  • percussion: one etude or piece demonstrating 2 mallets, snare drum, and timpani. If you are focussing on drumset, be prepared to demonstrate styles. 

  • Composition: prepare a portfolio of 2-3 pieces, ideally with different instrumentation. Recordings of any kind should be included if available.
