Nicolae Știuca was born on 12 july 1996 in Chișinau (capital of Moldova) in
a family of musicians.
Winner of more then 20 national and international competitions on accordion
solo, performed on main stages of Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Czech,
Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium etc.
Both parents are professional accordion teachers and players: Petru and Lilia
Știuca. Petru Știuca is also accordion teacher at "AMTAP" (music Academy in
Chișinau). At 8 years old, Nicolae started to study accordion at music school in
Chișinau "Alexei Stircea". At 11 began to study piano and at 12 percussion.
When he was 15, Nicolae have started his studies at musical High-School in Moldova "Ciprian
Porumbescu" where his main accordion teacher was his father. While studying in Moldova, Nicolae
performed with many different orchestras and ensembles like: Accordion ensemble "Magic Accordion",
Violin ensemble (at accordion solo), Folk orchestra and Chamber orchestra (at accordion - solo).
After graduating musical High-School in Chisinau, Nicolae started his studies at Conservatorium van
Amsterdam at accordion department with teachers: Marieke Hopman and Marko Kassl. After a great entrance
examination, he won and received a very prestigious award from Dutch Minister of Culture Jet Bussemaker:
“Holland Scholarship”.
While studying, Nicolae have played at many different festivals and concerts in Amsterdam (Uitmarkt
festival), Dordrecht “Bach Festival”, Arnhem, Laren, Haarlem, Castricum, Krommenie, Hilversum,
Heemstede, Opdam etc.. Also he won the second prize at “ Novam national accordion competition 2016” in
Amstelveen in category Superior B.
During his studies, Nicolae folowed many different master-classes from accordion teachers all over the
World like: Geir Draugsvoll (Denmark), Claudio Jacomucci (Italy), Yuri Shishkin (Russia), Joseph Petric
(Canada), Stanislav Jusufovic (Serbia), An Raskin (Belgium), Ronald van Overbruggen, Renee Bekkers
(The Netherlands) and other.
In January 2018 Nicolae gave himself a masterclass at the music school “Alexei Starcea” in Chisinau,
Moldova.
Nicolae graduated from his Bachelor degree in 2019, and in May 2021, Nicolae graduated with a Masters
degree at the Conservatorium van Asterdam with a high mark in pedagogical subjects and principal subject.
In 2024 Nicolae succesfully defended his Doctorate Thesys at National University of Arts “George
Enescu”. He is constantly giving private accordion lessons.
In his musical life, Nicolae have performed at more then 1000 concerts in different countries as a soloist
and in chamber music.
